Message from Dean of the Medical College

Our Doctor of Medicine program utilizes a variety of tools incorporating various platforms including digital networks, comprehensive digital library, problem based learning, case-based methodology, and simulation labs, etc. Our faculty integrates the fundamentals with advanced concepts and the curriculums stem across multiple courses to provide a correlative, logical, and thorough learning approach. We also emphasize strongly on the clinical application of the basic knowledge along with clinical skills training in the first two years which makes the transitioning into clinical years more streamlined.

We have a low student- to-faculty ratio which enables our faculty to focus on individual student needs and provides maximum faculty mentorship for every student. One of the most essential parts of our program is our student services and staff who work tirelessly to perfect the student’s wellbeing in every aspect of student life and, as in student’s own words, act as the strongest pillars of support for our students.

Deans message for Dean of Clinical Sciences

At Metropolitan University College of Medicine, the Clinical Sciences phase represents a defining transition in your journey—from mastering foundational knowledge to applying that knowledge in real-world patient care. It is here that our students evolve into compassionate, competent, and confident physicians.

As Dean of Clinical Sciences, I am proud to lead a program that is deeply committed to excellence in clinical education. Our curriculum is designed to provide rigorous, hands-on training across core and elective rotations, guided by experienced faculty and dedicated clinical preceptors. We emphasize not only the development of clinical skills and medical knowledge, but also professionalism, ethical practice, cultural competence, and patient-centered care.

Our students train in diverse healthcare settings, gaining exposure to a wide spectrum of patient populations and medical conditions. This diversity enriches their clinical experience and prepares them to practice medicine in an increasingly global and interconnected world. Through structured supervision, continuous assessment, and personalized mentorship, we ensure that each student receives the support needed to achieve their full potential.

At MUCM, we recognize that medicine is both a science and a calling. Our mission is to cultivate physicians who are not only clinically proficient but also empathetic, resilient, and dedicated to lifelong learning. We strive to instill in our students a deep sense of responsibility toward their patients and the communities they will serve.

I invite you to explore the opportunities within our Clinical Sciences program and join us in shaping the future of healthcare. Together, we are committed to advancing medical education and preparing the next generation of physicians who will make a meaningful difference in the world.

Message from Dean of Premedical

Welcome to our vibrant community, on beautiful island of Antigua, where the sun shines brightly, and the spirit of learning thrives. As the Dean of Premedical Sciences of the Metropolitan University College of Medicine, it is my honor to extend a warm greeting to each of you as you embark on this transformative journey toward becoming compassionate and skilled physicians.

Our premedical program is designed to be the crucial first step in your medical education. Here, we focus not only on the rigorous academic foundation necessary for success in medical school but also on fostering the qualities that define a great physician—empathy, resilience, and a commitment to service. Our curriculum integrates the sciences with hands-on experiences, encouraging you to engage with the community and understand the diverse health challenges we face in our unique environment.

We believe that education extends beyond the classroom. Our program emphasizes the importance of community involvement, providing you with opportunities to participate in local health initiatives, outreach programs, and research that directly benefit our island’s residents. By immersing yourself in the community, you will gain invaluable insights into the social determinants of health, cultural nuances, and the importance of holistic care.

As a medical school, we are dedicated to being a positive force in the development of our community. We aim to cultivate future leaders in healthcare who will not only excel in their medical careers but also advocate for health equity and wellness in underserved populations. Our partnerships with local organizations enhance our mission, allowing us to address pressing health issues while fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility among our students.

As you navigate through your studies, remember that you are part of a larger vision—one that seeks to uplift our community and inspire change. Together, we will shape the future of healthcare, ensuring that it is accessible, equitable, and compassionate.

I encourage you to embrace this journey with open hearts and minds. Welcome to our Metropolitan family, and let us embark on this exciting adventure together!
